An absence of snow in Western New York forced rounds seven and eight of the AMSOIL Championship Snocross series to be relocated to ERX Motor Park in Elk River, Minnesota. Ample snow and warm temps welcomed an overflow crowd just outside of the Twin Cities metro where the series would mark the halfway point of the 2023 campaign.
Logan Christian opened the weekend with yet another Pro class podium finish in second place, continuing a string of performances that have been propelling him upward in the standings. Logie tied for the top qualifier position after scoring heat race finishes of 1-2 and then held fast to second place for the entire main event.
Hunter Patenaude endured some struggles in Friday qualifying going 5-6. With an outside gate pick in the final, Patenaude was mired in a mid-pack start but was able to secure a seventh place finish.
On Saturday, Patenaude turned the tables going undefeated in his two qualifying rounds and then led the main event from start to finish to capture his class leading third win of the season. Christian had his share of issues in the heat races and would finish eighth in the final, however, both riders made significant gains in the standings where they now sit third and fourth, well within striking distance of the top spot.
The results were special for the team on many fronts as the event was sponsored by our partners the U.S. Air Force and we were able to celebrate a win with Major General Edward Thomas who was making his first visit to a snocross event.
The team was also able to make school visits in the Twin Cities where we interacted with students from Anoka and Armstrong High Schools and presented Race To The Future scholarships on behalf of the Air Force.
Up next are back-to-back race weekends in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Elk River, Minnesota as we enter the final month of the season on March 3-4.
