Aurora, Minn. (March 13, 2023) – The AMSOIL Championship Snocross series introduced a new triple crown format for the Pro class at rounds 11-12 in Elk River, Minnesota. With a number or Pro racers out due to injury, the triple crown eliminated heat races, giving the overflow crowd three opportunities to see all riders on the track at the same time for extended “rounds” that each paid championship points.
Consistency proved to be key under the new race structure and Hunter Patenaude just missed an overall podium by going 4-6-4 on Friday night to finish fourth overall. Althought Hunter would improve hist best result on Saturday with a third place, a crash in round one and a seventh in round three relegated him to eighth overall.
Logan Christian struggled a bit more with the format when he was not able to finish two of the rounds on Friday and was scored 10th overall. On Satuday, Logie bounced back with a third place finish in his final round which, combined with a seventh and ninth to start the night, gave him a point total placing him sixth overall.
Nathan LaValley was ninth in the Sport Lite division on Friday and then put in an impressive ride in Saturday’s final passing two riders on the last lap to earn a fifth place finish.
On Thursday, the team made a visit to Andover High School where we presented a Race to the Future Scholarshop on behalf of the U.S. Air Force.
This week will be spent preparing for back-to-back races in Michigan and Iowa as we close out the final four nights of racing on the 2023 schedule.
