Hunter Patenaude put on a late race charge to finish second at round 10 of the AMSOIL Championship Snocross tour’s maiden visit to the legendary Huset’s Speedway in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Patenaude, who finished fifth on Friday night, rode a determined race starting from the number four spot before quickly moving into third. As the laps wore down, Hunter closed in on second place Elias Ishoel but was having trouble making a pass once he begin to encounter the wet, heavy roost coming off of Ishoel’s track. With four laps to go, Patenaude took advantage of a mistake by the race leader as he and Ishoel slipped by where Hunter locked down second place.
Logan Christian qualified well on Friday, going 2-4 in his heats. At the start of the Pro final, Christian quickly gained two positions and was on the move before having an issue with his goggles which ultimately forced him to withdraw from the race. Christian finished seventh in Saturday’s main event.
Sport rider Nathan LaValley raced to his first podium of the season with a third place finish on Saturday. It was LaValley’s best weekend of the year as he also picked up a heat race win on Friday and never finished outside of the top three in any of his qualifying rounds.
While in Sioux Falls, the team made a visit to area High Schools and presented Race To The Future scholarships on behalf of the Air Force.
This week will be a quick turnaround as we prepare to head back to ERX Motor Park in Elk River, Minnesota for rounds 11-12 of the series.
